Module 2 – Response for Harmony

Hi Harmony,

I really appreciate how you’ve highlighted the challenges of maintaining clear boundaries between personal and professional digital identities. As you mentioned, separating accounts and being thoughtful about the content we share are critical practices, especially as the lines between personal and professional lives continue to blur with social media. The concept of “visitor vs. resident” is especially relevant in today’s digital environment. I agree that most people, especially students, toggle between these modes depending on the context, like using online platforms for learning versus personal interaction. Your suggestions on protecting digital privacy are important too; staying aware of privacy settings and using strong passwords are basic yet essential steps for safeguarding our online presence. The growing issue of digital surveillance is something we all need to be more conscious of as we navigate our online lives. Thanks for sharing your thought!

Module 2 – Response for Kenna

Hi Kenna,

I completely agree with your perspective on the blurred lines between personal and professional identities on TikTok. It’s fascinating how platforms like these allow healthcare professionals to engage in public education, but as you mentioned, the risk of crossing boundaries is very real. The case of nurses losing their jobs over inappropriate content really highlights the potential consequences of oversharing or misjudging the tone of content. I also think your point about digital literacy is important; while young people are often labeled as digital natives, not everyone is equipped with the skills to manage a professional online presence. It’s definitely something that needs more attention, especially as we move into careers where our digital footprints are under increasing scrutiny. Thanks for sharing your thoughts – it was really engaging post to read!

Module 1 – Response for Angela

Hi Angela,

I really like how intentional you are about managing your digital identity. Keeping your online presence simple by sharing photos of yourself while protecting your privacy is such a thoughtful approach. It’s impressive that this strategy has still kept you open to creative opportunities like dance performances and video projects—those sound like such exciting experiences! It’s also great to see how you recognize the importance of adapting to different online spaces, like using LinkedIn for professional networking and keeping things casual on platforms like Discord. Looking forward to seeing more post!

Module 1 – Response for Alexandra

Hi Alexandra,

it’s great to hear about your journey to UVIC and how Victoria has shaped your experiences!
I think social media is also a great way to stay motivated and organized, so it’s awesome that you’ve found creative ways to use platforms like TikTok and Pinterest. I never thought about using Pinterest for school organization, but it sounds like a really helpful idea! I’m not much of a tech person either, so I totally get the learning curve with things like Excel. Looking forward to seeing more of your posts and learning together this term!
